3 Things to Look for in a Covid Safe Outdoor Fitness Class
Doing a group fitness class outdoors is safer than working out inside while we manage the Covid 19 pandemic. Wearing a mask, social distancing, using hand sanitizer and washing your hands are all habits that we should all do and practice during our workouts. We can’t forget about the social rewards of classes. We all spend huge amounts of time online everyday due these days. An outdoor class gives us a much-needed break from constant virtual communication. Here are some tips on what to look for to get the most from your outdoor workout during the pandemic.
1. Small Class Size . Look for an instructor that at offers small class sizes. Fewer people in class allow for better individualized instruction and better social distancing opportunities.
2. Location, Location, Location. Outside space offers a lot of opportunity to do socially distanced training while enjoying the sun and fresh air. Look for classes within parks or have a beautiful, scenic view. Consider an instructor that can modify the location in case of bad weather, heat, cold and lighting. Coaches that respect the grass, trees, waterways and natural resources while conducting classes are a plus.
3. Mobile Equipment Variety and Quantity. Look for an outdoor class that offers equipment variety--kettlebells, dumbbells, mats etc. This adds convenience, excitement and additional conditioning benefits. Ample equipment supply keeps participants safe and free from the need to share equipment.
